Israeli military YouTube channel

So here’s the Israeli Defence Force YouTube channel. The video above is billed as “Israeli Airforce Strikes Rockets in Transit”. The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit writes;

We were saddened earlier today that YouTube took down some of our exclusive footage showing the IDF’s operational success in operation Cast Lead against Hamas extremists in the Gaza Strip. Fortunately, due to blogger and viewer support, YouTube has returned some of the footage they removed.

I mean, I guess I’m disseminating propaganda. But hey, you can clearly see the rockets and the lorries and the little terrorists running around like ants, just before they disintegrate. Why would this be unsettling? It’s amazing how many there are, it’s like an entire level of “Call of Duty 4″. In fact Call of Duty 4 has a level that is exactly, eerily, like this. No one has yet left the comment “I could have done that”…

Below is how “Death From Above” looks in Call of Duty (go to around 2.29). It’s interesting that some of the related videos, linked to this video game footage on YouTube, is of real gun camera footage from Iraq and Afghanistan;

    little terrorists ?

    they are civilians u stupid
    try to watch other channels instead of the Israeli ones

    Hey Jacko

    It’s impossible to see who people are from the video. That was supposed to be ironic. Although I’m not sure why you are so certain they’re civilians, either. I find it strange that the video looks so much like a video game that has been released- that has the title “Call of Duty”. There is also, thinking about it, the game “America’s Army”, that’s a recruiting tool. Anyway, I was being facetious.

    [...] Immersion blog showed me that the Israeli Defense Forces have a YouTube channel to aid global PR efforts (there’s also a Twitter feed for the Israeli consulate in New York); a bit like President Obama using YouTube to cut around the press. But it all feels frighteningly 2D, these close-up perspectives from cutting-edge systems broadcast instantly to billions, yet so far removed from bombs and bodies. [...]
